The Curl of Curly Hair

Curly or wavy hair just sets the style of every curly hair all over your body. But why are curly hair curls, and how do a curly hair get its curl in the first place? The curly hair fiber is a multi-cellular, intricate, multi-sealed compartment, deep within the skin. Curly hair grows out of tightly curled curly follicles, while straight hair is made by flat hair shafts. Even though we know that it is curly, people still tend to think that there is no difference when it comes to the texture or feel of curly hair.

When you brush or comb your wavy hair, it will look like the hair is curling up, but this is not really true. It is not true because we know that curls are made of keratin, which is similar to our hair’s own keratin. Curly hair only gets its curly look when its cut, washed and dried incorrectly. Here are the most common mistakes when it comes to curly hair:

Curly hair is extremely susceptible to frizz. If it is not dried and conditioned properly, it can be a real pain. Frizz often occurs at the ends of curly hairs. In order to prevent frizz, do not forget to condition your hair at least once a month, especially if you wash your hair with hot water. Choose a conditioning shampoo that is specially formulated for curly hair and one that is free from alcohol and sulfates.

It is said that curly hair gets its curl due to the capillary structure located at the ends of the shaft. But in reality, the capillary structure of curly hair is not responsible for the curl, but rather the tangles. When the shaft is damp, it naturally forms curls, which can look quite lovely. If you want to try out a different look, then try brushing your hair after it has been washed, not before. You should also keep your hair free of tangles, by following the same care instructions above. For an extra textured look, use pomade products, or a little hair gel to give the shaft added body.

Curly hair does not always look good straight down. In order to get the best curls, you should blow-dry your hair or you can add some pomade products to it and gently squeeze the product out along with your hair fiber. Then blow-dry the rest of your hair, turning it to the side, until the waves are the most natural looking. Once you have blow-dry your hair in this manner, you will notice that the curl is most prominent at the ends.

It is easy to get the appearance of curly hair when blow-drying. If you have long hair, then you should use pins to pin-up sections of your hair, since they will make your curls appear a lot better. If you have short hair, then just use Bobby pins to pin-up different sections of your hair, or use a curling iron to make your hair appear to be straight. Once you have completed your hair, you should wash and then condition it according to the directions on the packaging.
