Coconut Oil

Coconut oil has become a beloved component of homemade natural beauty products due to its wide-ranging benefits – from moisturizing skin cells and protecting from sun damage to aiding with moisture retention and protecting against sunburn. Many DIY bloggers recommend it as an SPF 4-7 natural sunscreen option.

Coconut oil’s medium chain fatty acids (MCFAs) work by binding with cell membranes and disrupting their structure, blocking UV rays while simultaneously protecting cells against free radical formation that cause cell damage and premature ageing.

Coconut oil has long been touted as an alternative sunscreen, yet we do not believe that it can replace dedicated sunscreen products. Since there have been no rigorous tests conducted to ascertain its SPF level, we advise using it only as an additional form of sun protection alongside your regular skincare regime.

Macadamia Nut Oil

Macadamia nut oil has the ability to regulate the skin’s sebum production. This light, non-greasy and penetrating emollient provides soothing comfort for dry skin while simultaneously helping reduce dandruff and promote a healthier scalp. Furthermore, its rich in antioxidants may protect you against free radical damage that could contribute to heart disease, diabetes or Alzheimer’s.

This nourishing oil helps soothe sunburns while stimulating collagen regeneration for slower aging. Packed with Vitamin E – an anti-oxidant known to combat free radical damage on both body and skin – this treatment may help soothe sunburn and aid in its recovery.

Oil of Argan can help coloured hair maintain its colour longer than other oils due to its rich content of squalene and tocotrienols that help rehydrate it. Furthermore, its unique ability of penetrating deep into your scalp to moisturize hair follicles makes this oil non-comedogenic and easily absorbed by skin.

Raspberry Seed Oil

Raspberry Seed Oil is a light-colored, nutty-scented carrier oil packed with phospholipids that offers exceptional skin and hair care benefits. As an emollient it creates a lipid barrier to lock moisture in, softening, smoothing, toning, softening fine lines and wrinkles while decreasing signs of aging such as fine lines and wrinkles. In addition, its anti-inflammatory properties help soothe red, irritated skin conditions such as Eczema or Psoriasis.

As a natural sun protection ingredient, sea kelp has attracted increasing interest as an absorber of UVB and UVC rays. Recent research indicates it may also offer some degree of UVA protection; more studies need to be completed in this area. It can be added to natural sunscreen products to boost their protective capabilities; or added directly into cream-based moisturizers to add an additional layer of protection.

Hazelnut Oil

Hazelnut oil is an easily absorbed carrier oil that quickly spreads evenly on your skin, thanks to its tannin content, providing natural astringency for oily complexions.

Flavonoids such as catechins and tannins along with vitamins A, E and F make argan oil an ideal anti-ageing, rejuvenating and restorative oil for sun damaged skin and hair.

This oil is rich in Omega-6 and omega-9 essential fatty acids that nourish and moisturize the skin, as well as antioxidants such as Vitamin E. Furthermore, phytosterols strengthen barrier functions of skin.

Hazelnut oil is an exceptionally gentle oil that won’t irritate sensitive skin, and can be used on all skin types without discomfort. Additionally, this versatile product makes an effective addition to sunblock products as it offers protection from UV rays that could otherwise harm both the skin and scalp. You can use hazelnut oil alone or mix it into other oils and creams to maximize its effects in your skincare regimen.
