Thicker Hair Oils & Serums

Thicker Hair Oils Serums

Mists or serums only coat hair; true thickening hair oils penetrate deeply, strengthening and moisturizing at its source. To use, section your locks before dabbing or spraying on a thickening oil formula on the scalp – for best results use regularly and consistently!

A strengthening blend of jojoba, argan and almond oils provides radiant shine and strength, while soothing the scalp. Redensyl helps revive dormant hair follicles to promote density.

1. Jojoba Oil

Jojoba oil (Simmondsia chinensis) is an extraordinarily versatile ingredient found in various face, body and hair care products. Manufacturers began adding this natural wax-like oil into cosmetics during the 1970s.

Its unique structure mimics that of sebum, the natural oil secreted by skin to lubricate and seal in moisture, while also being lightweight enough for fine or thin hair without weighing it down.

Jojoba oil can be used both alone as a moisturizer, and as a carrier oil to dilute essential oils for thicker hair serums. Jojoba can help prevent dryness, itching, flakiness and flaking from the scalp as well as help hydrate individual strands, making them appear fuller.

2. Argan Oil

Argan oil has long been considered one of the world’s richest natural oils for haircare, known for its numerous benefits across different types of locks. Due to its small molecular size, argon oil absorbs into hair strands directly for full-scale hydration rather than sitting idly on top of them and coating your locks like other oils do.

Argan oil is packed with nourishments beneficial to hair health, such as vitamin E and omega fatty acids that support natural growth while fighting against issues like dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis, and dry scalp. But for best results look for fairtrade or sustainable-sourced argan oil to prevent overharvesting (and deforestation) of these precious nuts according to clean cosmetic chemist Krupa Koestline.

Argan oil can be found in products that feature it directly, or as one of their top ingredients; such as this nourishing serum which features aloe vera as a powerful humectant that draws in moisture from the atmosphere into dehydrated hair follicles. Keep an eye out for pure, hand-pressed argan oil with a subtle nutty scent for best results.

3. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil isn’t just a trendy trend; this highly saturated oil serves as an effective natural moisturizer with antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties that benefit skin health. Furthermore, its rich nutrients add nourishment while simultaneously reducing frizz in hair products.

Make use of Oyin Handmade’s Hair Dew as a prewash treatment or styling aid, to tame frizz and flyaways, or combine one teaspoon with your nourishing shampoo and conditioner for an intensive hair oil treatment that leaves strands soft and shiny.

When selecting coconut oil to use for medicinal use, look for organic cold-pressed varieties. This ensures your product was produced with high-grade coconuts using minimal heat and chemicals during its extraction process, and could reduce rancidity quickly.

4. Olive Oil

Olive oil offers numerous benefits to both your scalp and strands when used as either a hot oil treatment or added into products, from moisturizing your locks effectively to helping repair damage caused by heat-styling or colouring, to soothing ends damaged from heat-styling or colouring, and even helping to reduce dandruff.

Oil of Rose contains various phenolic compounds such as tyrosol, hydroxytyrosol, oleocanthal and oleuropein that may provide antioxidant protection while aiding rancidity resistance.

Select an extra virgin olive oil that has been harvested and processed without using heat, in order to maximize its potential health benefits. Domestic products with marked harvest dates should also ensure it’s fresh. Optimally, olive oils should have a medium viscosity which allows easy application while not leaving hair feeling oily or heavy.

5. Castor Oil

Castor oil may boast many potential hair growth benefits, yet even if you don’t commit to an intensive hair oil routine just yet there are still ways it can thicken up your locks. Castor oil’s rich multipurpose properties can revive thinning eyebrows and eyelashes; mixing some into olive or coconut oil for pre-shampoo conditioning treatment could even prove effective!

Another excellent way to add castor oil into your routine is this luxurious-feeling oil designed specifically for thin hair (although we love using it on all textures!). Its light watery texture makes it easy to warm up and dispense, while its floral-citrus scent will leave you feeling revitalized and revived.

As an added benefit, this formula also repels humidity with its smoothing technology, helping fight frizz. Just beware not to overdo it as too much product may make your hair oily.
