What Is Massage Therapy?

For many, a massage is an experience that causes them to blush and shiver. While not everyone feels this way about a massage, the reaction that does occur is often a positive one, allowing for further treatment at the hands of massage therapists. There are two basic types of massages that a person can receive, these being therapeutic massages and traditional massage.

Therapeutic massages use oil or water, with the therapist’s hands, which often includes kneading, to loosen and release tense muscles. When used in conjunction with massage therapy, they are often used in combination with it to enhance the therapeutic effects. They are also used to prepare the body for treatment, as the massage oils can help alleviate stiffness and pain from previous treatments.

Traditional massage uses a completely different form of treatment than the other. It utilizes much less oil than traditional massage, as the hands are far more gentle and are more of a massage of the back and feet. This type of massage is designed to relax the body, improve circulation, and have a greater impact on the nervous system. These types of massages are much more relaxing and soothing, making them popular with those who have trouble sleeping.

While a lot of modern times have been created by those seeking to discover what the other has been doing, there has been no real history for how these types of treatments began. There are many different theories that explain how this practice came about, with some experts believing that the Egyptians may have been the first to have it. The importance of a life force or Qi, for example, could have given the Egyptians an idea of how to treat and replenish the body, as well as give them an insight into the workings of the human body.

Ancient Chinese believed that the life force or Qi was present throughout the body. It was believed that the life force within the human body was meant to be soothed and manipulated so that it would respond to external stimuli. An ideal treatment, therefore, would have no side effects or adverse effects, allowing the patient to return to normal more quickly. The use of massage to stimulate this life force within the body had many people asking themselves if there was something medically wrong with them.

It wasn’t until recently that the emphasis on traditional massage and the more modern forms of therapeutic massage have begun to be used as a part of treatment. As the technology has progressed, it has become possible to gain the same benefits through various forms of massage, including electrical stimulation, pressure, or even laser therapy. At this point, it is common practice for those seeking massage therapy to undergo both types of massage therapy, to ensure that the type of treatment they receive is maximized.

When it comes to choosing a therapist for your massage, it is important to check for any positive feedback that they may receive from other clients. This should be done after a session to make sure that the treatment was a success. During this time, the therapist can gauge the results of the treatment by gauging the reaction from the client. If the results are positive, then the therapist should be able to get an idea as to what is working and what isn’t, which will help them to improve their techniques in the future.

A good massage therapist will always strive to put the customer first. They should put the client’s satisfaction at the top of their list of priorities, as a badly performed massage can ruin a day that was once relaxing. Quality massage therapy is an investment and can take time to develop, but the results can be well worth the wait.
