The Different Specialties of Massage Therapy

The massage therapy field is full of different specialties and professions which are used for the purposes of therapeutic massage. Some of the fields of the therapy are listed below:

Massage Therapy

The Therapeutic Massage. This is used as a general body massage. Usually, this is a simple massaging that covers the entire body and usually focuses on the central areas of the body. Most of the therapists also focus on treatment for the arms, shoulders, elbows, legs, hips, shoulders, and lumbar region. Some therapists are qualified in the hands-on massaging method and some specialized in the rehabilitation techniques.

The Electrical Massage. This is an electrical touch which is commonly used by massage therapists to treat various muscular disorders and muscles dysfunctions. Often this method is combined with the therapeutic massage, in order to provide more effective treatment for the sufferers. Electrotherapy is mainly used to treat muscle spasms or any pain, and also to strengthen the injured tissues.

The Rotational Therapy. This is mainly used in the treatment of the musculoskeletal system. It is typically applied on muscles, bones, ligaments, joints, ligament-like tissues, cartilage, tendons, and fascia.

Acupressure. This is used to treat specific issues related to the body’s autonomic functions. It has a number of other names, including magnetic therapy, ionic therapy, and the type of bodywork therapy.

Short-Term Care. This is used to alleviate muscle and joint pains, nervous system disorders, and traumatic injuries. Usually it is used in the early stages of recovery.

Clinical Massage. This type of massage is a special kind of massage that is used to deal with diseases that might be life threatening. It is especially useful in treating patients who are having different kinds of injuries and diseases. Clinical massage is given in order to support the sufferer and his/her overall health.
